Remember

Nine months down and only three remain in this year of infamy. 💥
Not sure I'm ready for the "grand finale"
Anyway...

Birthday celebrations began the month of September.
Brielle turned 9 on the 6th.

Lincoln turned 9 on the 12th.

After a great Labor Day 'Last Hurrah' BBQ, the night turned wickedly windy. Some places received 90 MPH wind bursts and we were sure hurricane season had made its way up to inland Utah!
The little quaky forest suffered greatly. As did the apple tree. As did the picnic table. As did the pool cover.
A grand mess was had by all!!!

BUT...
Moving forward...
Not only did the storm come to Utah, but also the Texas people!

Our sweet Sister Emma took out her endowments in the Ogden Temple on the 10th.

We weren't able to attend, but at least Grandma, Grandpa, and Seth were able to join her for a quick lunch before being wisked back to SLC.

And Alex and Amanda were sealed in the Provo Temple on the 12th.

Meanwhile, back up in Layton, Kimba had 'kid duty'.

After all the celebrations, we enjoyed a full house of Utah family plus Ryan, Shelley, Seth, Emily, Geoff, Mac, Alex, Amanda - and even a little bit of Hayley.
Games and goodies galore.

And we knew it was coming, but it still made us sad...
We were officially released from our mission in the Lisbon Temple. We are no longer 'on hold'.

Visits with the extended family also hi-lighted the month.
Jenna performed in a benefit concert in Spanish Fork - a good reason to head south. She did a great job.
That was followed by ice cream at Cold Stone - another good reason to head south.

Lunch with Bill and Sandy at Maddox is always a good reason to head north. Don't cha know.

Fall flag football season has begun. Yay for Tyler and all those who come to cheer him on.

And, finally, the Birthday Bird made two more visits in the month of September.

First to Provo to find Seth on the 19th.
Look at who is now 22!

And then the BB
flew all the way down to Texas to deliver birthday wishes to Shelley.
(Wow. Wee. She is now 43!)

I think that's mostly it for September. Looking forward to General Conference in just a few days. In preparation for that, I just wanted to share part of Neill Marriott's most recent email.

I just finished a zoom devotional with the young women of a Dallas stake.  The underlying theme of the hour was about being yoked to the Savior and the direction and peace that comes as we choose to do that.  The young women asked me questions and one of the things I shared was a quote from Epictetus (Greek philosopher), “We become what we pay attention to.”  It is a good self examination question, isn’t it?  We take the sacrament each week in remembrance of Christ and we covenant that we will "always remember Him and keep his commandments.”   If we really do remember him and pay attention to Jesus Christ - that is, think of him during the day,  be aware of what he would have us do, and do it — it is my hope that we can become more and more like him.

May we all remember Him
Pay attention to Him
Listen and Learn from His Servants
