October

I always love looking back on the happenings of each month.
(Even the ones that end with Halloween!)
Anyway...

The 190th Semiannual General Conference was a perfect beginning to October. I have my favorite quotes and I'm sure you do too.

And I loved what Sister Bonnie H. Cordon posted regarding GC -
Imagine you are standing on the shore of a beach—a difficult picture for many of us to imagine in 2020! You enjoy watching the water come and go. As each wave washes away, you notice that the water has left behind little seashells on the shore.

For me, general conference is like standing on the beach. I enjoy watching the talks live and feeling them wash over me as I listen to each session. However, some of my greatest insights come afterward when I discover the seashells—or nuggets of truth—that were left behind when the water is gone. I discover these nuggets in two ways:

1. Listening to the talks. I like to turn on a conference talk while I am getting ready or driving into the office. I try to listen to a conference talk every morning as I begin my day.

2. Marking up a printed copy of the talk. I like to grab the nearest pen I can find and mark up the talk. It doesn’t matter what color of pen or making sure that my highlights look pretty. I like to circle quotes, write notes, and even draw little pictures. I think it’s amazing how my eyes and ears each pick up different insights as I listen and read the wonderful messages.

Dear friends, don’t make your study of general conference complicated. Do what works for you! What is important is immersing yourself in the talks.

What insights have you had since general conference ended?

CCC, Janet, Kendra, Fran, and I enjoyed a 'Girls Night Out' as we attended Murder on the Orient Express at the Hale Theater.

We had such a good time that we're going to do it again in December!

With a two week break for Spud Harvest, Amber and the kids decided to spend some of that time in Morgan.

We enjoyed flag football, going to the pumpkin patch, walks around town, helping Grandpa winterize the pool, raking leaves - or rather, playing in the leaves, a trip to the barn, and sooooo much more.

Dexter even 'found' David's old shaving kit. 😄

The Birthday Bird paid a visit to Dave on the 10th. (He had to hunt him down because Dave was in Washington visiting his mom.)
The family celebrated his 38 years with Crumbl Cookies.

Finally...we got those pesky fallen trees removed.

We would rather have been in Brazil or Portugal with the Browns, but lunch at Taggart's was the next best thing!

This month also brought us Alex and Amanda and Hayley for a quick visit.
While down here, Alex and Amanda found a car and Hayley found her Emma!

Lately, I've been trying to develop my talents.
Kristy encouraged me to try watercolors.

CCC coerced me into sewing/quilting.
This first attempt at making a table runner was a bit - what should I say - rough.😕

Y'all lost an uncle this month. Dallan passed away on the 13th.
We will miss him.

It finally got to that point. It was inevitable. It was a moment to moment week, but it ended well. Bruce had a valve replacement on the 30th.
All is well. All is well
.

As we come to the end on month #10 -
Let's just say-
H-A-double L-O-W-double E-N

And this is how you treat the trickers in 2020!

Ya gotta love this time of year!
